Frequently asked questions

Onboarding

Do I need a Stellar wallet first?

Yes. Install Freighter, xBull, or Albedo before connecting to Tasmil. See Set Up Your Wallet in Getting Started.

How much do I need to start?

Minimum ~5 XLM for account reserve (Stellar requirement) + ~0.5 XLM for vault deployment gas. For the deposit itself, ~50 USDC or XLM is the practical minimum — below that, gas costs eat returns.

Testnet or mainnet first?

Start on testnet. It uses fake tokens and costs nothing. Switch to mainnet once you're familiar with the flow.

Vaults & Yield

How long until I see my first APY?

Positions appear within 10 minutes (first rebalance cycle). APY stabilizes after 1-2 position sync cycles (~10-20 minutes total).

Can I lose money?

Yes, through: impermanent loss on LP positions, protocol smart-contract risk, USDC depeg, or market downturns affecting token prices. Read the Risks page for details.

What happens if the AI makes a bad decision?

The engine uses APY-proportional weights with risk adjustment — not subjective "intuition." If a pool's APY drops, the engine rebalances away. If 3 consecutive rebalances fail, the vault halts. The AI is formula-driven, not speculative.

Can I change my preset later?

Yes. Switch at any time from Farming settings. The engine rebalances to the new pool set on the next cycle.

Are my funds insured?

No. Tasmil is non-custodial DeFi — there is no FDIC or insurance of any kind. This is standard for DeFi protocols.

Security

Does Tasmil have access to my private key?

No. Your wallet private key never leaves your wallet extension. The AI bot uses session keys you authorize — they have limited scope and you can revoke them at any time.

What can the bot actually do?

Deposit and withdraw within registered strategy contracts. It cannot send to arbitrary addresses, bypass rate limits, or exceed the daily rebalance cap. Full list on the What the Bot Can Do page.

What if Tasmil's servers go down?

Your funds stay in your keeper wallet on-chain. You can withdraw directly via Stellar Explorer using your owner key. The bot stops transacting, but funds are never locked.

Has the code been audited?

An external audit is planned. Current status is on the Audits & Addresses page.

Fees & Costs

What fees does Tasmil charge?

Currently: none beyond Stellar network gas fees. A performance fee (percentage of returns above HWM) is planned but not yet active. See Fees & Yield.

What are the gas costs?

Typical rebalance: 0.001-0.005 XLM. Vault deployment: ~0.5 XLM. These go to the Stellar network, not Tasmil.

Troubleshooting

My positions show empty after depositing.

Wait 10 minutes for the first rebalance cycle. If still empty after 20 min, check your transaction confirmed on-chain (paste the tx hash in Stellar Expert). If confirmed, check the vault isn't HALTED. See Troubleshooting.

A transaction is stuck.

If a Soroban transaction is pending beyond 30 seconds, it may have expired due to network congestion. The engine will retry on the next cycle. You don't need to do anything.

The faucet didn't send test XLM.

Check you used the correct network (testnet mode in wallet + Friendbot). Some faucets have rate limits — wait 5 minutes and try again. If still failing, try the Stellar Quest faucet as an alternative. See Troubleshooting.
